TechPort aims to bridge the gap between technology, capability, small businesses and the United States (U.S.) Navy!
Technology changes rapidly, and with a multitude of government barriers, nontraditional and small business are struggling to adapt to these changes quickly and effectively. Enter TechPort, a physical location, outside the gate Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River that acts as a convenient point of interaction between Naval Labs, industry, academia, and other military branches. It also houses many programs that fall under the umbrella of TechPort, to include the NavalX Southern Maryland (SOMD) Tech Bridge, the NAWCAD Technology Transition Office, the Naval Aviation Systems Consortium (NASC) and multiple Partnership Intermediary Agreement (PIA) between the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) and Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI), The Patuxent Partnership (TPP) and The St. Mary’s County Office of Economic Development. These PIA partners have the ability to communicate directly with government agencies, industry, academia, and the public to assist with completing complex technological projects at a faster rate, with higher returns.

TechPort Facilities
TechPort is a state of the art facility that functions as a space outside of the gates of Naval Air Station Patuxent River where local business and the Navy can come together to collaborate. This space is available to be used by any of TechPort’s partners. Events hosted at TechPort include: Industry Days, Working Groups, Classes and Technology Demonstrations. The space is not cleared and only unclassified discussions may occur within the facility.
Available Spaces within TechPort:
- One large conference room that fits 12 people at a large table. This conference room is equipped with one TV display monitor, one touch screen smart board and a polycom phone system.
- One reconfigurable hangar area that can fit up with 75 people. The hangar is equipped with a projector, reconfigurable tables and chairs to allow for multiple set up options, a smart board on rollers and podcasting equipment.
Amenities Available for Use While Hosting an Event at TechPort:
- Kitchenette, with sink, refrigerator and microwave oven.
- Bathrooms
